Victoria B., a student at RRHS, uses Poll Everywhere to answer questions in Linann Ward's AP Psychology class. Mrs. Ward uses Poll Everywhere to review students for an up-coming test or assignment and for a warm-up in her classroom. In this class session, students were working on a Formative Assessment on Memory.

RRHS Students Compete In Capitol Area BEST Robotics Competition

The RRHS Robotics team competed in the Capitol Area BEST Robotics competition and had a strong showing. Scoring 178 total points and taking 8th place out of 24 teams entered. They also came in first among RRISD schools, beating Westwood, McNeil, and Stony Point. Team members were: Jacob Ingalls, Evan Durfee, Blaze Utz, Adam Thompson, Mason McCullough, Jake Lehman, Brennan Artzt, Brennan Stuewe, Colin Catozzi and Jake Meadows.

In Ryan Brown's class, RRHS students presented their "All About Me" Projects with Prezi.
Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides. The zoomable canvas makes it fun to explore ideas and the connections between them. The result: visually captivating presentations that lead your audience down a path of discovery.

RRHS's Marine Corps Junior ROTC Cyberteam Ties for Second Place In Round 1 of Cyberpatriot IV

Team places among the elite in only its first year.

1. On 29 October 2011, Round Rock High School’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) tied for second place during Round 1 of the “All Services Division” of CyberPatriot IV. Approximately 611 Army JROTC, Air Force JROTC, Navy JROTC, Marine Corps JROTC, and Civil Air Patrol units from around the nation entered the competition.

2. CyberPatriot is the premiere national high school cyber defense competition created to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future. CyberPatriot is sponsored by the Air Force Association and a number of cyber defense industry-leading corporations.

3. This year marks the first year that the cadets from Round Rock High School’s Marine Corps JROTC program have competed in this national competition. The four Round Rock High School Marine Corps JROTC cadets who comprise the team spent the last 3 months preparing for this competition. The team meets twice per week, after school applying real-world computer network security practices and procedures.

4. The team hopes to continue its success when Round 2 of CyberPatriot begins on December 2nd, and runs through December 3rd. Scores from Round 1 and Round 2 will determine which 36 schools from across the country will compete in Round 3 from January 13th through the

Moodle Madness!

Students in Mrs. Lopez's classes use Moodle on a daily basis. Mrs. Lopez has been a teacher for 9 years and has been a teacher at Round Rock High School for 5 years. Aside from being an expert on Moodle, she is also the District trainer and shows other teachers to be expert users as well. We are proud to have Mrs. Lopez on our Staff!

SMART Geometry at RRHS

Students in Mrs. Lowe's Class use the SMART software and the SMART Slate to solve Geometry problems. The notes that are taken from the SMART software and Slate are saved to a PDF form and posted on Mrs. Lowe's TeachWeb so the students can refer to them later if needed.

Round Rock HS Morning Announcements

For the past 3 years Mr. Hobby has been working to improve the morning video announcements at RRHS. Every morning, Mr. Hobby gets his students ready to deliver the announcements to their fellow students. Using Technology, the students prepare the daily announcements by setting up cameras, computers, lighting, and software. Then they broadcast it to the entire school, live!
