Round Rock High School Physics students recently worked in the library to complete a research project. Librarians, Mrs. Pavone and Mrs. Taylor, taught research skills, plagiarism, use of proper documentation, and how to effectively use a database while using the interactive polling website Socrative. Students were able provide instant feedback of their knowledge with this online webtool.
Physics students worked in pairs to research four scientists from a pool of ten and specific questions. To complete this, students used both print AND digital resources. The librarians created stations where students moved from place to place gathering information about their chosen scientists.
By the end of the class period, students had to sign-up for the type of product that they wanted to create to convey their understanding. Students chose from the following digital options:- Children’s Story
- Photo Essay Booklet
- Catalog
- Illustrated Timeline
Product-Based Breakout Sessions - Students attended the appropriate breakout session that correlated to the type of product they had chosen to create. Librarians Sara Pavone & Christina Taylor as well as ITS Brandie Cain-Heard each lead a breakout session in which they provided instruction about how to use an online tool to create this product.
When students completed their projects they were asked to submit online via a Google form.
