Our Cyberteam tied 2 other Marine Corps Junior ROTC units and won 1st place during Round 1 of Cyberpatriot V (held on Friday, November 2nd, and Saturday, November 3rd).
CyberPatriot is the premiere national high school cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future.
This is a significant achievement for the team comprised of:
-Cadet Maria Dronen, Team Commander (11th grade)
-Cadet Bryan Dronen (9th grade)
-Cadet Jared Kindles (10th grade)
-Cadet Kayla Rivera (10th grade)
-Cadet Gavin Kondrath (9th grade)

If our team puts in another superior performance during Round 2, they will be selected to compete in the Semi-finals Round (January 11th-12th, 2013).
The team's goal this year: to place in the top 2 teams of the Semi-finals Round. Accomplishing this goal will send them to compete in the Cyberpatriot V National Final Round in National Harbor, Maryland (March 14-16).
Although our team competes only against other Marine Corps Junior ROTC Cyberteams, their score in Round 1 places them among the elite teams from ANY Army JROTC, Air Force JROTC, Navy JROTC, Civil Air Patrol, or Navy Sea Cadets unit in the country.
