To better align with our learning targets
and criteria for success, Mrs. Pedraza uses Moodle to reorganize her categories. For each unit she has categories for each of
the learning targets and subcategories for the criteria for success. This way she can create one Moodle assignment
for each learning target with a couple of questions from each of the criteria
for success for that learning target.
Since the subcategories are loaded with multiple questions, each student
receives an individual assignment. If a student does poorly on the assignment, he or she can reattempt the
assignment receiving new questions from the banks. Students with
test anxiety have told Mrs. Pedraza that
having a Moodle assignment before a quiz or test helped them feel more
confident about their ability to perform on the quiz and/or test reducing their
anxiety.
When students are
done with the Moodle assignment, they are to evaluate themselves on their learning
targets. In the future Mrs. Pedraza will
include feedback that not only helps them correct their mistakes but also
guides them to better evaluate themselves on their learning targets. She also has feedback tied to the grade on
the assignment itself with action steps to take based on the grade.
The results from the Moodle assignments
are used to determine aspects of the next class as well as what resources she needs
to find for her blog.
